Nacogdoches PD intern killed in wreck

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

An SFA student who worked as an intern with Nacogdoches Police died Wednesday afternoon following a one-vehicle wreck on State Highway 21.

Rebecca Jeanne Gore, 19, of San Augustine, was pronounced dead at 3:22 p.m. at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

According to the DPS report, Gore was driving a 1998 Ford truck westbound on Highway 21 at 2 p.m., nine-tenths of a mile from FM 226, when she left the road, overturned and was ejected from the truck.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police spokesman Greg Sowell said Gore had been working since August as an administrative intern with the department.

An account has been set up for the family of Gore. Donations may be made at any First Bank and Trust East Texas location. Checks may be made payable to "Benefit Account for Rebecca Gore."
