Man confesses to stealing from AA facility, Lufkin Police say

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin police officer arrested a homeless man after he appeared at the police department and confessed to stealing money from an Alcoholics Anonymous facility on Thursday.

Robert Lynch, 47, of Lufkin, admitted to burglarizing the Lifeline Group Alcoholics Anonymous facility, located at 706 Ellis Ave., police say. Lynch told the police officer that at approximately 9:30 a.m. yesterday, he entered the facility through a window and stole currency from inside, according to the arrest report.

Lynch stated that he later confessed his actions to an employee of the facility and then went with the employee to the police department, according to the report.

Lynch provided a written statement concerning his actions and was booked in Angelina County Jail early this morning, according to the report.

Lynch is charged with the State Jail Felony offense of burglary of a building.
