LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Two separate traffic stops resulted in three arrests on drug charges over the weekend for East Texas DPS troopers.
A Nacogdoches County trooper reported finding 40 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a 2003 Hyndai Sonata on U.S. 59 on Sunday. According to the report, Trooper John Riggins pulled two people over for not wearing seat belts. After searching the vehicle and finding the marijuana, which has a street value of $15,333, he arrested Hector Manuel Alvarado, 18, and Lorena Caballero-Garcia, 17, both of Arkansas.
On Saturday, Trooper Heath White of Lufkin DPS reported finding five pounds of marijuana on a traffic stop. According to the report, White pulled over Trenton K. Terry, 31, of Houston, on U.S. 59, because he was driving a 2007 Chevy with an obstructed license plate. White said he found the marijuana in Terry's luggage. The marijuana carries a street value of $2,756.
All three suspects are charged with possession of marijuana.
