Lufkin Zoo animals capture library goers attention

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – It is Zoo Day at Kurth Memorial Library and you will never guess who showed up.  A Sinaloan Milksnake and a Mata Mata turtle.

Youngsters are participating in the library's summer reading program.  Its theme is "Dig up a good book."  Their focus is on animals and that is where the Zoo comes in.  The kids got a chance to see up close and in person a Sinaloan Milksnake and a Mata Mata turtle. 

Charlotte Henley, Zoo Education Coordinator, also gave a Powerpoint presentation that highlighted popular Zoo animals.

"It's all about fun and learning during the summer.  We will soon be talking about dinosaurs and Dinosaur George will visit in a couple of weeks," said Lorraine Simoneau, Librarian. 

You still have time to get involved.  The reading program lasts all summer, ending August 12.
