LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Police arrested a Lufkin woman Tuesday night after she was accused of kicking a five-year-old boy in the chest.

According to the arrest report, the boy and witnesses reported to a Lufkin Police officer that Versia Darcel Walker, 20, instigated an altercation with woman outside a residence on Lark Street.

The officer learned that during the altercation, Walker attempted to punch the other female. The other adult took hold of Walker, according to the report. Witnesses and the victim stated that while the other female was holding Walker, the child approached the altercation and Walker intentionally kicked him in the chest, sending him several feet backwards.

The child complained of pain and soreness in his chest, but the responding officer did not detect visible injuries, according to the report.

Police found Walker to have knowingly and intentionally caused bodily harm to a child and she was booked into the Angelina County Jail for the offense of injury to a child, a third degree felony.

Walker also had an outstanding municipal court arrest warrant that includes failure to maintain financial responsibility.
