7/4/11 Lufkin Police Report

Assault, 400 Block of Brentwood:  Woman reported that her husband hit her during an argument over a text message she received from another man on her phone.

Criminal mischief, 2400 block of Peace: Woman reported that she returned home to find that someone, who she suspects to be her ex-husband, had broken out her bedroom window and left a note for her.

Burglary/habitation, 800 block of W. Grove St.:  Woman reported that while she was away someone burglarized her home, entering through an unsecure window.  A Television was the only property found to have been stolen at the time of report.

Burglary/attempt, 100 block of W Menefee St.:  Woman reported that she found that someone had kicked and damaged the back door and had broken out a window of a residence she recently purchased in apparent attempt to gain entry.

Theft, 1700 block of Frank:  Man reported that for the last two nights, someone had siphoned and stolen gas from his car while he was at work.

Burglary, 600 block of Culverhouse:  Church Pastor reported someone had broken into his church by breaking a glass window and attempted to force entry through a door to the office, damaging the office door.   The actors also attempted to force open a storage cabinet.  Nothing was found to be missing at time of report.

Calls for service:

Between 6:00 AM on Sunday, July 3, 2011 and 6:00 AM on Monday, July 4, 2011, Lufkin Police Department officers responded to 78 calls for service.

SPECIAL NOTICE:  North Loop 287 (Ellen Trout Dr) will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic from US Hwy 59 N (Timberland Dr) to US Hwy 69 N (Kurth Dr) starting at 8:45 p.m. this evening for the Fourth of July Celebration at Ellen Trout Park.  Traffic is expected to return to normal sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.
