NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested two men Friday afternoon, who are accused of having a large amount of PCP, in addition to cocaine, in their vehicle.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said an off-duty deputy reported seeing the two men doing something suspicious at Pecan Park in Nacogdoches, around 1:45 p.m. He called the sheriff's office dispatcher, who broadcast the description of the 2004 Chevy Malibu in which they were traveling.
A deputy located the vehicle on FM 1878 and pulled them over. He ran a check on the driver, Jerry Frank White Jr., 24, of Nacogdoches, and saw he had two outstanding warrants. As the deputy placed White under arrest, he reported seeing crack cocaine in plain view. He then checked the rest of the vehicle and found a bag of PCP, Kerss said.
The deputy also arrested the passenger, Franjuan Eucola Johnson, 36, of Houston.
The pair are charged with two first-degree felonies. Because they were seen at the park, which is a drug-free zone, they are charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance in relation to the cocaine. The amount of PCP is enough for a first-degree felony of possession with intent to manufacture.
