ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - The Zavalla City Council has placed the new police chief on paid leave while they conduct an in-house investigation.
City Secretary Rhonda Pigg confirmed the council made the decision Monday night following a 90-minute closed session. Pigg could not comment about what the investigation was about or why Jimmie Hodges was put on leave.
"We are going to get back with Mr. Hodges when we finish our investigation," said Mayor Greg Fletcher.
Hodges was named the new chief about two months ago, after Bobby Epperly Jr. left the post to take the chief job in Huntington.
Officers Joey Courtney and James McKenzie with Zavalla will head up the department until the investigation is complete.
