LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Fresh off his first legislative session, East Texas State Representative James White is back home with constituents. During a lunch on Tuesday, he gave a legislative update to the Lufkin Lion's Club.
Of the bills passed, White says the state budget will definitely have the greatest impact on our area. He outlined how education and health services could change.
White also, explained new legislation for the Lufkin State Supported Living Center.
"We worked on a specific piece of legislation that will help the school out and save the state some money at the same time. Then, we did some work with forestry. We want to get that information out also," said White.
White tells us the governor is also signing off on redistricting maps right now. Once approved, the Texas Attorney General will take the plan to Washington for the final okay.
