LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin woman recently acquitted of a murder charge pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to bringing drugs into the Angelina County Jail in 2009.

District Judge Barry Bryan will sentence Kendall Jo Thompson, 20, within about a month.

Thompson was scheduled for a bench trial Tuesday but instead pleaded guilty to prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Thompson was being booked into the Angelina County Jail in 2009 on a misdemeanor drug charge when she was found to have two pills in her bra.

A jury found Thompson not guilty of murder in May, in connection to a drive-by shooting death of a Lufkin man in January 2010.
