NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A man who tried to call in a burglary found himself in handcuffs Saturday night after not only lying about the crime, but for having a stolen gun.

Dexter O'Bryan Clark is charged with false report, a misdemeanor, and theft of firearm, a state jail felony.

According to the police report, officers responded to a burglary call at 5:28 p.m., at the 100 block of Old Line Drive. When they arrived, they determined Clark had made a false report about the burglary.

As officers arrested him, they gathered his belongings, which were still packed, as he was staying at the apartment with another person. In one bag officers found a pistol, which had been reported stolen in Houston.
