LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin Industries employee was injured Saturday morning when a 2,000-pound container fell on him, according to the Lufkin Fire chief.
Chief Ted Lovett said fire and EMS personnel responded to Lufkin Industries at 7:45 a.m. in reference to an industrial accident.
Lovett said the report shows an approximate 2,000-pound container fell on a worker and it appeared he suffered significant injuries to his back, as well as internal injuries, as he had trouble breathing.
EMS personnel took the man to Lufkin Memorial Hospital.
The name and condition of the man were not available Monday afternoon.
Company Vice President Brian Gifford said he could not comment on an ongoing investigation.
Lovett said he did not know which division of Lufkin Industries the fire department responded to.
