LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin Industries employee injured when a 2,000-pound container fell on him over the weekend is recovering at a Tyler hospital, according to an executive with the company.
Company Vice President Brian Gifford said the employee is in stable condition and recovering. He said privacy laws keep him from releasing his name and anything specific about his injuries, but he did confirm he was injured in a work-related accident.
Chief Ted Lovett said fire and EMS personnel responded to Lufkin Industries at 7:45 a.m. in reference to an industrial accident.
Lovett said the report shows an approximate 2,000-pound container fell on a worker and it appeared he suffered significant injuries to his back, as well as internal injuries, as he had trouble breathing.
EMS personnel took the man to Lufkin Memorial Hospital.
