Proud of East Texas: Joe Anna Arnett

By Joan Hallmark joanhallmark@kltv.com

Joe Anna Arnett travels throughout the world with her husband James Asher, painting and teaching art for the PBS television series "Passport and Palette". But on Saturday, August 6th she'll be in her home town of Jacksonville as the featured artist at the "Nan Travis Gallery Night Art Show And Sale'. Gallery Night is being held at East Texas Medical Center Jacksonville.

Arnett grew up in Jacksonville and after graduation from the University of Texas, produced television commercials for some of the country's biggest companies through Young & Rubicom Advertising in New York. But Arnett missed her art and gave up her high paying, enviable, job to return to painting. When Arnett moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, she met and married artist James Asher. "Paint, teach and travel has become the couple's motto and their life.

But on August 6th, Arnett will be back in Jacksonville, in her words "giving back to the people who mean so much to me." For more information on Gallery Night in Jacksonville, call 903-541-5191
