Wes Hamilton joined the East Texas News team in July 2011 as sports director. Wes is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in broadcast journalism.
Wes is from Montgomery, a small town north of Houston, and graduated from Montgomery High School. Go Bears! Wes played for the Bears football team and is very familiar with the passion that goes into Friday nights in Texas.
Every job Wes has ever had involved sports in some way. During high school he worked at a local golf course and refereed for youth sports. At UT Wes worked for the Texas football team as an equipment manager. He traveled all over the country to watch his beloved Longhorns and worked hard year round to help the team in practices and at games.
Wes is passionate about all sports and loves to play basketball, softball, baseball, and even hack his way around the course through a round of golf.
Wes is the son of Jim and Jamie Hamilton, and the grandson of June Bush. He has one little brother named Matt, who is taller, faster and can beat him at golf any day of the week. These are hard things to swallow as the older sibling, but Wes loves all of his family dearly.
Wes has a loving girlfriend named Stephanie, who will graduate from Texas with a nursing degree soon. So not only does his family outshine him, but Wes has to be outsmarted by Stephanie all the time as well.
Wes' favorite TV shows include: The Office, Modern Family, Entourage, anything on the Travel Channel and everything on Discovery Channel. His favorite movies are Wedding Crashers, Caddyshack, Anchorman, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Remember the Titans, Hoosiers and of course Harry Potter.
