Baseline Killer trial resumes Monday after 2-week break

The trial of a man accused of killing nine people in the Phoenix area resumes Monday after a two-week break.

Mark Goudeau is charged with nine killings and dozens of other crimes in the so-called Baseline Killer case. The 46-year-old has pleaded not guilty.

His trial began in June and is expected to take nine months. So far the trial has focused on the first victims in the case, including Georgia Thompson, a 19-year-old Tempe woman who was fatally shot in the head in 2005.

The trial was on break for the past two weeks because of unrelated scheduling issues.

Goudeau already is serving a 438-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2007 of 19 counts in a 2005 attack. In that case, police say he raped a woman while pointing a gun at her sister's belly.
