New Coalition Operation in Afghanistan

A new anti-terror operation in eastern Afghanistan has seen its first clash and casualty.

American and Afghan troops clashed with insurgents yesterday, killing one enemy fighter. Coalition forces suffered no casualties in the firefight.

"Operation Mountain Resolve" was launched on Friday in a mountainous area of eastern Afghanistan.

A U.S. military spokesman says it's the most dangerous terrain troops have operated in since they've been in the country.

In a separate battle -- unrelated to the anti-terror operation -- a coalition patrol clashed with six enemy soldiers in southern Afghanistan, killing one and capturing two.
