LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An off-duty officer in full uniform arrested two Lufkin men Wednesday evening after he said he caught them completing a drug deal in the parking lot of a grocery store.

Pablo Jessie Saucedo, 24, and Arturo Sarmiento, 25, are each charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to the police report, the officer was arriving at Brookshire Brothers on Chestnut Street at 5:20 p.m. to begin working an off-duty security job. The officer arrived in his personal vehicle and was in his police uniform when he saw what he thought was a drug deal between the two suspects in a GMC pickup and another person, according to the report.

The buyer left the scene, so the officer decided to go after the sellers. The officer reported finding powdered cocaine, meth and drug paraphernalia in the truck and arrested the suspects.
