NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A Kentucky man has pleaded guilty to hiding 950 hydrocodone pills in a horse trailer while traveling through Nacogdoches County.
Thomas A. Porter, of Pleasureville, Ky., accepted a six-year prison sentence in District Judge Campbell Cox's courtroom, which will be supervised by another state. He pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. The state dropped a charge of possession of marijuana.
A state trooper arrested Porter in February following a traffic stop on U.S. 59, just north of Nacogdoches. Trooper Jay Stone searched Porter's horse trailer and reported finding the pills and 113 pounds of marijuana in a false compartment in a storage area in the trailer.
A prosecutor with the Nacogdoches County District Attorney's Office was not immediately available for comment.
