NEWTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A one-vehicle accident in Newton County Wednesday morning claimed the life of a Cleveland man.
A justice of the peace pronounced Kendall Wade Cox, 22, dead at 11 a.m.
According to the DPS report, Cox was driving a 1999 Ford F250 eastbound on FM 363, a mile east of Bleakwood, when he entered a curve at an unsafe speed and left the roadway and overturned the truck. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Cox's passenger, Edward McDonald Jr., 58, of Porter, suffered head injuries and lacerations in the wreck. He is listed in stable condition at a Beaumont hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.
