HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Houston County Sheriff's Office investigation into a trailer house fire has led to the arrest of a Crockett man accused of burning it down while he was cooking drugs.

Michael Shirley, 23, is charged with arson, a state jail felony.

According to a press release, several area fire departments were summoned to the scene at Golden Acres subdivision on Wednesday night after a trailer house caught on fire. Crews could not save the residence, but did extinguish the fire and surrounding homes.

Narcotics investigators with the sheriff's office and the fire marshall's office determined that Shirley was cooking drugs believed to be meth and accidentally caught the house on fire.

The sheriff's office obtained a warrant for his arrest on Thursday and arrested him.

He is in the Houston County Jail where he is waiting for a bail bond to be set.
