HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - High school football in East Texas is known for hometown rivalries. This year two schools are on the same side of competition.
Hudson High School may not have a football team, but they do have a band. The football team at nearby Apple Springs provides the plays on field and Hudson's band provides the sounds from the stands.
Friday night, the schools held a pre-season pep rally to showcase the band and the football team's preparation in the last 2 weeks.
"I look for a very promising season, especially with the way band camp is going," said Hudson ISD band director, Brad Comeaux. "So, a successful marching contest, successful practices at Apple Springs. I'm looking forward to it."
Hudson High School's Hornet Marching Band will be in the stands every Friday night at the Apple Springs High School games.
The Apple Springs Eagles can't wait to take the field for their first game against Longview-Trinity on August 27th.
