In order to get a seat at game time in Lufkin would you be willing to stand in line every Wednesday for more than two hours?
It's a weekly routine for devoted Lufkin Panther Football fans like Bob Armstrong, who's been following the pack since 1943.
Armstrong takes his place in line every Wednesday about 6:30 am. The ticket office doesn't open until 9 am. He uses the time in between to visit with his fellow fans.
"I was telling them (fellow fans) about how this used to be Central ward school that I went to as a kid," Armstrong said. "And they said, 'there was a school that sat here?' So, I get a chance to tell the Lufkinites history that they didn't even know."
Armstrong's support goes way beyond football.
"It doesn't matter if we're oh-and-ten," Armstrong said. "The idea is to support the teams, support the kids that are playing year after year. And not just football. If you're a Panther fan there's basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, girls sports, swimming, and all of that."
Armstrong says no matter what school district, it's never too late to start supporting your local teams.
