NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – Nacogdoches city leaders say there is no crisis over providing an adequate water supply to customers and they want to keep it that way.
The Nacogdoches City Council is expected to enact on Tuesday stage one of the city's drought contingency plan.
Customers will be asked to voluntarily reduce their water usage. They say it is merely a way to protect the water resources the city already has, particularly Lake Nacogdoches.
Last month the city had to open a lower gate to withdraw water due to the lower lake level. The latest reports predict the current drought will last into 2012.
