LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin woman recently acquitted of a murder charge was sentenced to five years in prison for bringing drugs into the Angelina County Jail in 2009, according to jail records.

District Judge Barry Bryan sentenced Kendall Jo Thompson, 20, on Monday.

Thompson pleaded guilty July 13, 2011 to bringing a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

She was originally scheduled for a bench trial, but instead pleaded guilty to the charge.

Thompson was being booked into the Angelina County Jail in 2009 on a misdemeanor drug charge when she was found to have two pills in her bra.

A jury found Thompson not guilty of murder in May, in connection to a drive-by shooting death of a Lufkin man in January 2010.
