LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Colmesneil man who injured a child while changing its diaper in 2005 is back in jail on an accusation that he violated probation.

Michael George Mitcham, 30, pleaded guilty in 2007 to a charge of injury of a child, after he caused a tear in a baby's legs while changing its diaper in 2005. He accepted a five-year probation sentence on the charge.

Since that time, Mitcham has been in and out of the Angelina County Jail on probation violations. According to Adult Probation Supervisor Dustin Fore, Judge Barry Bryan placed sex offender terms on the probation in 2010.

Since then, Mitcham stopped reporting to his probation officer and attempts to locate him had been unsuccessful.

Mitcham was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Wednesday on a motion to adjudicate probation warrant.

He is being held in the jail with no bail. It appears no hearing date has been set.
