NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Two Nacogdoches County constables have teamed up to arrest two Nacogdoches-area residents following a several months-long investigation into meth dealing in Central Heights.

According to a press release from Pct. 4 Constable Jason Bridges, his office and Pct. 1 Constable William Sowell's office arrested James Chatman, 39, and Robin Stokes, 50, on Friday afternoon on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Bridges said the investigation began following a traffic stop in the Chireno area several months ago. He said they identified two suspected targets believed to dealing meth in the Central Heights area, which made its way into Precinct 4.

The constables executed search warrants at residences on U.S. 259 and FM 2664. Bridges said they found six grams of crystal meth at both homes, along with several guns, other drug items and notes and $12,000 in cash.

Bridges said these arrests are only one phase of a much bigger plan that his office has been working on for the last year.

"We try to identify the source of where these drugs are coming from," Bridges said. "Then we try and identify their source as well. If you really want to stop the amount of drugs coming into your area, you have to be able to identify these dealers."
