Lovelady man accused of stealing $28k worth of pipe

HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Houston County Sheriff's Office says a Lovelady man was caught in the act trying to steal a trailer full of aluminum pipe from gas well sites between Lovelady and Weldon.

According to a press release, the complainant called the sheriff's office to report he was with the suspect, Kim E. Floyd, 48.

While at a work site on FM 3525 and FM 3550, the complainant said he saw a truck pulling a trailer that had pipe in it. He stopped the vehicle and called the sheriff's office and stayed with Floyd until deputies arrived on the scene, according to the report.

The sheriff's office verified that the pipe had been stolen from sites off of County Roads 3525, 3550 and FM 3151 and FM 230.

The pipe is estimated at a $28,350 value.

Deputies arrested Floyd on a charge of theft. He was released on a $15,000 bail bond.
