Classes NOT Cancelled in Alto

School officials in Alto want to remind students that school is not cancelled despite a bomb threat which was called in to the school on Monday.

About one fourth of the student population at Alto ISD did not show up for class today after a bomb threat was called into the elementary school about 1:30PM Monday afternoon. School officials decided to dismiss school early Monday as a safety precaution, although there was no immediate danger.

Alto Superintendent John Furguson tells the East Texas News that they are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of their students. They have stepped up security measures and stationed aides at all entrances and exits to the school.

Furguson also tells us that if students continue to miss school, officials will have to call a make-up day which is likely to be on a Saturday.
