LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Angelina, Nacogdoches, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, and Shelby counties through 7 p.m. Wednesday.
We are currently watching a complex of strong storms rumble through northern Louisiana, moving southwest at 25 to 30 mph. If these storms hold together, they will be making their way into Deep East Texas in the 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. timeframe.
While the rain and thunderstorms will be much wanted, there will be a damaging wind threat on the leading edge of this line. We have already had gusts over 50 miles-per-hour in and around the Shreveport area this afternoon and that wind threat will be the biggest severe weather threat as these storms continue to move south.
