HOUSTON COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Grapeland man died Thursday night after hitting the back of an 18-wheeler he was driving behind just north of Grapeland.

Joshua Michael Barnfield, 21, died at 7:42 p.m. at a Tyler hospital.

According to the DPS report, Barnfield was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup behind a 1990 Peterbilt truck that was towing a flatbed trailer, driven by Antwoin Xavion Delane, of Crockett.

Delane was southbound on U.S. 287, four-tenths of a mile north of Grapeland and had slowed down to make a left-hand turn at 5:30 p.m. when Barnfield slammed into the back of the trailer.
