Jasper firefighter dies after driving in front of game warden

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A volunteer firefighter working a fire in Jasper County died Sunday after he ran a stop sign in his ATV and was struck by a pickup driven by a game warden.

Anthony Quinten Meyers, 38, of Jasper, died at 4:17 p.m. at a Jasper hospital.

According to the DPS report, Meyers was driving a 2000 Honda ATV eastbound on County Road 39 when he disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 32. Game Warden Justin Charles Eddins, of Brookeland, was driving a 2011 Ford F150 northbound on CR 32 and struck Meyers.

The accident occurred at 3:15 p.m, 15 miles northwest of Jasper.

KJAS.com reports Meyers was a firefighter for the Angelina River VFD.
