Lufkin Police investigating two separate reported cases of money laundering at local hotels

Lufkin, TX (KTRE) – Lufkin Police are investigating two reported cases of money laundering alleged to have taken place at hotels in Lufkin.

The manager of Quality Inn in the 4300 block of S. First Street reported a large amount of money had been taken over the course of the past year.  He told police it appeared the former manager was responsible and had taken money for her personal use and changed invoices to cover the thefts.  In addition, he alleges the former manager overcharged customers.  The hotel and police are running concurrent investigations.

In a separate incident, police are investigating a suspected case of money laundering at Comfort Suites and Holiday Inn in the 4400 block of S. First involving amounts between $1,500 and $20,000, according to a police report.

Both cases will be turned over to detectives for further investigation.
