GROVETON, TX (KTRE) - Trinity County Sheriff's deputies managed to track down an escapee about three hours after he sneaked out of the jail early Monday, according to Sheriff Ralph Montemayor.
Montemayor said jailers were booking Christopher Calvin, 20, into the Trinity County Jail on a charge of deadly conduct around 12:25 a.m. when he managed to get the handcuffs off his wrists and escape through a side door.
Deputies found Calvin at 3:25 a.m. at his girlfriend's residence on South Divine Street, Montemayor said.
"We were watching several residences and saw someone with his description go into her house," Montemayor said. "We then converged on the residence and arrested him."
Calvin is now in Trinity County's custody at the Houston County Jail on charges of deadly conduct and escape. His bail is set at $38,000.
