NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office is now sending a message to burn ban violators by letting them know they will be arrested. One man became an example with his arrest Sunday morning.
A deputy arrested Edmundo Hernandez Salto at 10:34 a.m. after he caught him allegedly burning outside on County Road 806.
Anyone caught violating the burn ban will be arrested and will have to go through the process of booking and posting bail, even though the offense is just a Class C misdemeanor.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss is hoping the arrests will reinforce his message that outdoor burning is not allowed.
"A person would have to have been living in a cave not to know about the burn ban," Kerss said.
