NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

An SFA police officer arrested an SFA student after receiving a tip that he was involved in two on-campus graffiti acts on Sunday.

Alexander Vaughan Spears, 20, of Austin, was arrested for the offense of graffiti/institution of higher learning.

According to the police report, the officer was dispatched to several locations on the SFA campus that had been painted with spray paint. The trail of paint led from University Woods apartments, located on University Drive, to East College Street.

On Monday, police received a tip from someone claiming to know who was responsible. The person who gave the tip was interviewed, which led officers to believe that the suspect was Spears, according to the report.

Spears was located and confessed to being responsible for the graffiti on his own recognizance, according to the report.

Because the offense happened on a higher learning facility, the offense was upgraded to a state jail felony.
