Turkey Links Bombings to al-Qaida

Turkey's government is making the strongest connection yet between al-Qaida and a wave of deadly suicide bombings.

The deputy prime minister (Abdullatif Sener) says both the bombers and their accomplices had links to al-Qaida. At least three claims of responsibility have been made by al-Qaida for the bombings that killed 61 people.

More than 130 people have been detained so far in connection with the bombings, and 21 people have been charged. Several Turkish newspapers have reported that militants implicated in the attacks trained with al-Qaida abroad.
