SFA looks to shake off weekend loss, looks ahead to contest against Baylor

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – The Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks hit their first bump in the road on Saturday with an early season loss to #3 Northern Iowa.

Now, just a week before conference play, the Jacks face their biggest test of the season, a trip to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears.

Baylor is 1-0 on the year after upsetting T-C-U earlier in the season.  The Bears had a bye week and have been making more noise in the courtroom than on the field in the last week, thanks to some Big 12 drama and the conference's future.

After the Jacks' loss Coach Harper stressed maturity level heading into this week.  "We weren't as mature as Northern Iowa.  I mean, they are number 1 and they are a good football team.  They did a better job than we did.  We have to get our team to be more mature," observed JC Harper, SFA Head Football Coach.

"We just need to come back next week, learn from our mistakes, fix them, and get ready to play," said Brady Attaway, SFA Quarterback.

The Jacks dropped to 19th in the Sports Network Poll and 13th in the F-C-S Coaches Poll.

SFA will travel to Waco for its first road game of the year.  Kickoff is Saturday, 6 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
