NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches grand jury handed down 31 indictments Friday, including one for a Wichita Falls man accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl.

Paul Brian Motes, 43, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

According to Nacogdoches Police, the arrest stems from an investigation into an allegation that Motes sexually assaulted a girl who is now 9. The incident is believed to have occurred in April 2010.

The grand jury has also indicted four man accused in connection to a July beating of a man.

Previous reports state Nelson Mavrieio Rodriguez got out of a vehicle and used an AK-47 to beat a man in his own property. Hunter Dewayne Harkey, Jerry Andre Pruitt and Christian Geovani Salinas are also charged, as they were accused of being in the vehicle when the attack happened.

Sheriff Thomas Kerss said the attack was gang-related.

The four were originally charged with aggravated assault, but the grand jury has charged them with engaging in organized criminal activity.
