Strong storms take out power for nearly 2,000

EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - Overnight rain and winds were most likely welcomed by most East Texans, but some in the area also experienced power outages.

According to Oncor spokesman David Collier, 400 homes in Angelina County and 120 in Nacogdoches County were still without power as of 8 a.m.

About 1,500 additional homes in Angelina County were without power last night.

"We had a circuit go down and that knocked power out for a bunch of homes but we've got that one working again," Collier said.

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect for Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Rusk, and Shelby counties through 1 a.m. Monday.
