LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police Department arrested a woman after her boyfriend arrived at a hospital saying she stabbed him.
Karen Denise Lee, 37, of Lufkin, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
On Friday, Albert Hodge arrived at the Memorial Hospital emergency room with a stab wound to his left chest area, according to a police report.
The Lufkin Police were contacted and responded to the scene and spoke to hospital staff. The detective on site discovered that Hodge was stabbed with a large kitchen knife and the penetration was very close to his heart, according to the report.
Hodge told the detective that Lee, his on-again, off-again girlfriend, had visited his residence on Weaver Street, and when he told her to leave, she grew irate, according to the report.
Lee then grabbed the knife and stabbed Hodge, he said. Hodge made it to a neighbor who took him to the hospital. Officers arrived at the residence and found blood consistent with Hodge being stabbed at the residence, according to the report.
The wound was approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the top to bottom, according to the report.
Police obtained a warrant for Lee's arrest on Friday and she was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Saturday. Bail for Lee has not been set.
