A&M student from Center killed in Brazos Co. wreck

BRAZOS COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Center man attending school at Texas A&M died early Monday following a Sunday night wreck in Brazos County.

Jacob Brent Hughes, 22, died at 12:40 a.m. at the scene.

According to the DPS report, Hughes was driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma northbound on I&GN Road, two-tenths of a mile north of Capstone Drive at 10:30 p.m., when he ran off the road to the left, overcorrected to the right, traveled down an embankment and rolling several times before his pickup landed upside-down.

The DPS report states was driving faster than the posted speed limit of 60. It is not known if he was wearing a seatbelt.

According to his Facebook page, Hughes worked as a cook and bartender at Dixie Chicken in College Station and he was majoring in wildlife and fisheries sciences.
