ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) -

Zavalla native Dustin Ellermann showed his trick-shooting skills and did his part to bring his Blue Team to victory to avoid elimination in Episode 7 of "Top Shot" on The History Channel.

Before a group of about 180 supporters at Camp His Way, Ellermann watched the episode and expressed his excitement about making it another week.

"It's great," he said. "I thought someone like me would be gone by the fifth episode, but I'm still in it."

In the team challenge, Ellermann competed one-on-one against Phil Morden with a semi-automatic rifle and hit two-out-of-three cotton swabs from 25 feet away. Morden only hit one swab.

Because the Blue Team won the challenge, Ellermann avoided any chance at elimination.

"The toughest part about hitting those swabs is trusting your weapon," Ellermann said. "I didn't have my own weapon, which made it a lot tougher. If I did, I would have hit all three."

In Episode 8, "Top Shot" promoted a bow-and-arrow challenge. The episode will air September 27 at 9 p.m.
