Secret Service Makes Arrests in Home Depot, Lowe's Scam

Three people are charged with defrauding Home Depot and Lowe's stores across the South out of 150-thousand dollars by switching bar codes before they paid for merchandise.

The Secret Service today arrested David Oliver, his wife Mindy Oliver and Marcus Abercrombie.

Authorities say they took bar codes from cheaper items and attached them to expensive rugs, then went through checkout lines and paid 29 dollars for rugs worth hundreds.

Investigators say they later returned the rugs at other stores for a refund. When they got store credit vouchers, authorities say the three sold them on e-Bay.

They're investigating at least a half-dozen other people in connection with the alleged scheme.
