The "Margaritaville" casino would be built next door to the Bass Pro Shops near the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City
BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -
Casino revenues might be down, but one of the key players in the Margaritaville development proposed for Bossier City says that doesn't mean a new casino won't bring the Shreveport-Bossier area good fortune.
The 30,000 square foot casino, 400 room hotel and three restaurant development is projected to bring 1,500 jobs. Bossier Parish voters will decide whether to allow it to move forward in a special election in November.
One of the biggest concerns for voters is the economy, and whether the area can support another casino. The majority of Louisiana's state-licensed casinos suffered losses in August. Thirteen riverboat casinos across the state and four racetracks took in approximately $185.5 million dollars in August, down from 193.4 million in August of 2010.
