Pine needles, found in almost every East Texas back yard, is the basis for the rebirth of an ancient art. Using East Texas pine needles and Madagascar raffia, Eileen Luke has turned an ancient craft into works of art.

Luke, a former public school and college teacher in Illinois and California, became fascinated with basket making while living in Arizona. Now a resident of Whitehouse, Luke is bringing her skill at basket making to East Texans.

Art teacher Barbara Robertson is co teaching basket making classes with Luke at TASCA's Whitehouse facility.

For information on basket making classes, call Billy Gordon at TASCA 903-871-3217
