ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Angelina County deputies have arrested a man accused of starting a porch fire.
Casey Ryan White, 24, of Lufkin, is charged with the offense of arson, a second degree felony in Texas.
According to the report, two deputies responded to a call on Oak Grove Street on August 22, in reference to a possible arson.
Upon arrival, the deputies took photographs of what appeared to be a fire started on a porch.
Deputies drove to a residence on Herman Nerren Road, after one witness advised that they thought the vehicle seen leaving the crime was believed to have belonged to someone staying there, according to the report.
A deputy spoke with White, who insisted that he had been at his home all day. He was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor charge, according to the report.
Deputies noticed that the tires from the crime scene matched the ones at the property, according to the report.
A witness called one of the deputies, stating that he got a look at the vehicle and the man that was driving. The witness said he was willing to come in and look at a photo lineup, according to the report.
The deputy showed the witness nine photos in the lineup. The man identified White as the man who committed arson, according to the report.
An investigator obtained a warrant for White's arrest on September 21 and he was booked into the Angelina County Jail on September 23 on a $10,000 bond. He has not been released.
