Angry Parents Restore "God" to "God Bless the U.S.A."

Angry parents got "God" put back into Lee Greenwood's patriotic anthem "God Bless the U.SA.", which organizers of a public school benefit had changed to "I love the U-S-A."

Kaila Kaden took issue after learning the word "God" was removed from the song that her daughter Jackie will sing in an April show benefiting California's Pleasant Valley schools.

The show's directors decided to use "I Love the U.S.A." out of fear that the word "God" would violate separation of church and state and attract a lawsuit. The Pleasant Valley School District restored "God" after Kaden and other parents got upset.

School board President Ron Speakman says, "It was a misguided attempt to be politically correct, and it has been rectified." He says schools can refer to God as long as they don't advocate any religion.
