Secret Service Plans No Action on Eminem Lyrics, But Issues Caution

The US Secret Service says it has no plans to open a formal investigation into lyrics by rapper Eminem.

The lyrics that sparked the agency's attention said, "I'd rather see the president dead."

Secret Service spokesman John Gill says such lyrics can have unintended consequences on others. He says such words could be interpreted in a manner not intended by the artist.

Gill also says it was necessary for the Secret Service to look into a communication that could be considered threatening to the president.

A representative for Eminem could not be reached for comment.

His spokesman recently told CNN that the song "We Are American" was unfinished.
