LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police, with cooperation of Navasota Police, have connected a Houston man to the armed robbery of an elderly woman at the beginning of the month.
Navasota Police arrested Eric Morgan, 42, following a bank robbery last Friday, according to The Navasota Examiner's website.
According to Lufkin Police spokesman J.B. Smith, Navasota Police released a description of Morgan to area agencies.
"Our detective saw it and said, 'That sounds like our guy,'" Smith said. "We contacted them and were able to connect the stolen property to him."
Lufkin Police sought the public's help in the case on September 1 after a suspect robbed an elderly woman at gunpoint on Willowbend Drive. The suspect then used the woman's credit card at a gas station on the corner of Chestnut Street and Denman Avenue.
"I can't praise Navasota PD enough for what they did," Smith said.
According to The Examiner, Navasota Police arrested Morgan within hours of a robbery of the Wells Fargo bank.
Navasota Police reported Morgan walked into the bank with a note demanding money, according to the article.
Police apprehended Morgan just minutes later and served the warrant later that day, according to The Examiner.
The article states Morgan is also connected to robberies in Ohio.
Lufkin Police are in the process of obtaining a warrant for Morgan on the Lufkin robbery, Smith said.
